Cave City: Polacanthus by Gilarah93 Cave City: Polacanthus by Gilarah93
"Polacanthus is a medium-sized polacanthid dinosaur that once lived in Europe during the Early Cretaceous period. While quite an enigmatic species in regards to the fossil record, this species is closely related to other armored dinosaurs like Gastonia, which are known from substantially better fossil material. As such, many restorations of Polacanthus are based on the restorations of other similar polacanthids."

Given how little fossil material there currently is for Polacanthus, I cannot vouch for or against the accuracy of these two Dinosaur World sculptures. Based on the molded expressions on their faces, these two Polacanthus look like they were just startled by something nearby: heightened awareness in armored dinosaurs is a rare thing, indeed. LOL If you're curious, those two pterosaurs in the photo are supposed to be Pterodactylus, albeit rather inaccurate ones.

All sculptures photographed are current exhibits at Dinosaur World, Cave City, KY.
