Years ago, when Dikorus Sr.’s DNA base had yet to be attained, and the inevitably doomed “savior” Therizon was still considered an ally to mankind, a certain USDF geneticist was up to his usual tricks. Well known by his co-workers to keep a little extra DNA from each project for himself, the geneticist had quite a reputation and was often blamed if and when any genetic material went “missing”. Just prior to Project Terrible Hand’s undertaking, a large shipment of various cloned DNA, on its way to Japan for cryogenic preservation, went missing…..while under his supervision. Upon everyone’s suspicions, he was fired almost immediately following the investigation, which turned up…nothing; in a span of 10 hours, he went from a leading US geneticist to a ridiculed scapegoat of the scientific community. Lucky for him, he had already attained sufficient quantities of DNA for his own “pet” projects…but first, he’d have to call up an old friend…. 13 years later. The “Days of Dikorus”, as the time came to be called, was intensifying as more and more Terrors came forth to ravage the globe, with only Dikorus to take them on: the increasing number of Rogues and Aliens wasn’t helping matters. Then, it happened. A new, albeit tiny, kaiju was spotted in L.A.’s Elysian Park in late May ‘09, wandering aimlessly as if lost and looking for its family. This is the transmission issued by local police during the sighting: “It looks kinda like Dikorus, but it’s a…..kid…WHAT is that thing?! An alligator? It’s, it’s coming out of Elysian Park Pond! Wait, it spotted the baby dino, it looks mad…..now it’s attacked! Send police backup to North Avenue 19 immediately!” News helicopters, always present in L.A.’s airspace, gave the world a glimpse of the true brutality of the kaiju world: a massive phytosaur monster, savagely toying with the helpless dinosaur. The gigantic phytosaur plucked up and pinned the screaming juvenile within his gintrap jaws, preparing to end his gruesome display of power, rising u-CRACK! The phytosaur went reeling. The young saurian dropped to the earth and, coughing up a bit of blood, stared at the titan standing where the phytosaur was only seconds ago: Dikorus. L.A.’s savior kept his eye on the recovering phytosaur, now clearly ticked by having his meal interrupted. The giant shook off the wreckage, snorted his cranial-set nostrils clear of debris, and glared at Dikorus…then he charged. The twin titans met in a resounding crack of claws and momentum, with Dikorus winning the shoving match so far. The phytosaur tilted his skull downwards, and Dikorus saw his sneering…just before the blast of steam threw his head back with concussive force, stunning him momentarily. The phytosaur leaned back to assess the damage away from the choking steam clouds, then felt a sudden sharp pain in its skull, and…..nothing. The juvenile watched as the phytosaur fall to its knees, and collapse onto the Pasadena Freeway, dead. Dikorus went to the trembling juvenile, inspected it for wounds, and helped it to its feet. As he did so, the juvenile clutched his beak and held onto it tightly. The bond had been made.
